Review: Collecting the Pieces by L.A. Fiore

Collecting the Pieces
by L.A. Fiore.

At fifteen I fell in love. His name was Jake Stephens and he took the abandoned, lonely girl I had been and made me whole. His love was a pure and unconditional love that made every day better than the last…a fairy tale of my very own.
But this story isn’t about Jake. It’s about Abel Madden; the man I meet after the fairy tale goes to hell. A cocky, arrogant man who says what he wants, does as he pleases, and makes no excuses for it. He irritates me—downright pisses me off at times—but he also brings me back to life.
My name is Sidney Ellis and this is my story of finding love twice—the first when I needed it most and the second when I never saw it coming.

Review:
Collecting the Pieces is a very sweet story about a girl named Sidney Ellis who is left abandoned as an infant on the steps of a hospital.  Sidney, baby number 3 as she was known,  was given a name by a nurse in the hospital.  After that time, Sidney was lost in the system, constantly being shifted from home to home only to eventually land in the Millers' home at age 10; a home without love.  She was expected to by self-sufficient and pretty much take care of herself.  While there, she meets her brother Connor, another child fostered by the Millers.  Connor took care of her and giving her the love she so badly wanted from someone and to simply belong....

Sidney fell in love with Jake Stephens at fifteen while in high school.  Jake was beyond perfect and Sidney thought yet again she didn't deserve him.  Jake was captain of the football team and had wealthy parents and was from a very loving home.  He was the air she breathed!!

As the story progresses, things occur and the rug is jerked out from under your feet.  This fairy tale quickly turns into an unending nightmare for Sidney and Jake's family.  Years pass, yet Sidney still holds on to what was...not moving on, not letting anyone else in, drowning...

Sidney and her best friend decide to move out west and begin a new journey together, taking over a veterinary's office of a retiring doctor.  They both meet many new friends, as well as the possibility of new men entering their lives.  Moving from Jake's perfection to an unknown, sexual attraction that pulls you like a moth to a flame, Sidney is unsure of if she can allow to pierce that built up wall she has built in order to protect her heart.  Through the chemistry and attraction, Abel shows up at the exact time Sidney needs him to, to rescue her, and her him....

Loved this book...lots of great emotions and warm feelings.  The story was easily read and quickly devoured!!!  I look forward to more from this author!!

Blog Tour: Sweet Cheeks by K. Bromberg

An all new second chance love story by the New York Times Bestselling author of the Driven series.

Sweet Cheeks by K. Bromberg is NOW LIVE!

It all started with the invitation. To my ex-fiance’s new wedding.
I should have ignored it.Thrown it away. Set it afire. But I didn’t. I replied.
With a plus one.
And then my assistant accidentally mailed it.
Enter Hayes Whitley. Mega-movie star. The man who has captured the hearts of millions. But I gave him mine years ago. He was my first love. He was my everything. Right until he up and left to chase his dreams without so much as a simple goodbye.
When he showed up out of the blue ten years later, I should have known to steer clear. I should have rejected his offer to take me to my ex’s wedding. I should have never let him kiss me.
But I didn’t.
And now we’re left wondering if the pieces of the life we once shared still fit together somehow. First loves are hard to forget. The question is, do we want to forget? Or do we risk the chance and see what happens next?

Excerpt
I hear my name. I think I do anyway, and it distracts me enough momentarily that Hayes is able to grab and pull me tighter into him, the cupcake now inches from my face.
We stare at each other in a silent standoff, hearts racing and eyes daring. His gaze flickers over my shoulder and then back to mine as I prepare myself for the smash.
But it doesn’t come.
Instead he eases up and only dabs the frosting against the tip of my nose.
I sigh in relief.
Then gasp out in shock.
Because Hayes’s lips are on mine.
And not just a friendly peck. Not hardly. The hand that held the cupcake is now empty. Chocolate fallen by the wayside for a kiss. His fingers, sticky with frosting, are on my cheeks directing my face. But there’s no thought of the frosting he’ll get on my face or how funny it’s going to look when we walk back to our villa because all I can think about is Hayes.
I could tell myself I part my lips—grant him access—because I’m winded and need to breathe, but that would be a lie. Because the minute his tongue dances against mine, all I want to do is drown in his kiss. In the familiarity of it. In the difference of it. The unexpectedness of it. The comfort of it. In everything about him.
Hayes Whitley is kissing me. Again.
Finally.
His fingers are possessive—on the underside of my jaw and the small of my back—and the soft groan he emits communicates everything his lips are expressing and more.
His taste consumes me. The chocolate on his tongue. The spark of desire. The lick of lust. The sense of calm riled up by an overload of emotion.
My hands slide up the plane of his back over skin heated by the sun and slick with frosting. His muscles bunch beneath my palms as he shifts the angle of the kiss.
His tongue tantalizes and torments. Begs me to want more with its tender caresses and then switches gear and demands me to keep pace. To allow him to possess and claim.
I feel in droves. Want. Need. Lust. More. Too much. Not enough. Don’t ever stop. What am I doing?
It’s just me.
And Hayes.
And the singular sensation of rightness he is making me feel. A sensation I don’t think I had ever realized was missing since he’d left, but now know I’ll never be able to live without.

Excerpt Tour: Endurance by Georgia Cates

endurance-cover

I’m a doctor. Mobster. Killer. My hands are covered in filth. I don’t have the right to touch anything as clean and pure as Ellison MacAllister.   I distance myself … always remaining obscure, composed, restrained. Careful to never allow my eyes to linger too long. Careful to hide my interest. Careful to keep my burning desire buried beneath the surface.   I do it for her—suffer in silence—because it’s what is best for the woman I love. And she has no idea.   She’ll be initiated as a Fellowship member soon. One of my mafia brothers will go through endurance so he’ll earn the right to claim her. Make her his wife. Kill. Me. Slowly.   I’m running out of time. Only a month remains before she’s beyond my reach forever. I want to taste her. Share sleepless nights. Ride out her storm. I want to give her the kind of nights she will still feel between her legs the next morning. I want us to share the kind of passion that forms on our skin and drips down to saturate the sheets. Between the sweat and the moans and the messy hair, I want her to know how hard she’s been loved.   To have her is to taint her. I should stay away. But I won’t. I can’t. I’m a selfish bastard. A selfish bastard in love.

 Chapter 5: Jamie’s POV

“I don’t mind your stuff being all over our bedroom. And our bathroom. And the hallway leading from the staircase.” Trust me. Her shite is every-fucking-where. “I knew what I was getting into when I asked a high-maintenance lass like yourself to move in with me.” Ellison giggles. “You did not. You knew zero about what it would be like living with me. And I can guarantee that whatever you’re thinking you’ve gotten yourself into with me ain’t even close to the reality of it.” “Then why don’t you tell me?” “I was thinking I would show you.” She grins and I’ve come to know in a short while that it’s a sure sign of mischief. “That is if you think you can handle it.” “I promise I won’t be the one who can’t handle it.” I already know what kind of lover she likes and wants. And I very much want to be the alpha she wants. I pick Ellison up and throw her over my shoulder to carry her to the bed. Well, to the mattress on the floor. I was planning to wait until bedtime to fuck her—after the work was done and everything was in place—but she’s made it impossible for me to wait another minute. I toss her on the mattress and stand over her while I pull my T-shirt over my head and start working to get my jeans off. “I’m done waiting to have you.” She smiles as her eyes survey my body. “I’ve been wondering what you look like underneath your shirt.” “And?” “I approve one hundred percent.” “Take off your clothes, Mac. I want to watch you get naked.” My voice is stern. I’ll be the one in control. The one taking what I want. The one who’ll be completely unapologetic. Exactly what she said she wanted. It’s November, that time of year where Scotland experiences more darkness than light. The sun is long gone, so the room is illuminated only by the soft lamp on the bedside table. It’s actually sort of perfect. Ellison sits up and pulls her shirt over her head. Black and hot-pink lace covers what I already know is a beautiful pair of tits that fit my hands perfectly. And I can’t wait to get my hands on them again. Her lovely breasts tumble out of her bra and she tosses it on the mattress before pushing her thumbs into the waistband of her yoga pants to drag them down her legs. A tiny black and hot-pink lace triangle barely covers the mound between her thighs. She’s completely naked when she falls backward on the mattress, her feet apart and knees pressed together. Waiting. “No, Mac. You don’t get to close your legs on me. I want to see you. All. Of. You.” I put my palms together and then pull them apart to widen the space between my hands. “Spread them.” She bites her bottom lip—an attempt to mask her grin—as her knees slowly fall apart. “Is this what you want to look at?” My underwear is tight. My cock is straining hard against the fabric so I push them down and out of the way. “I think this is a sure sign I want to do more than look at it.” Ellison grins. “Mmm. Someone’s eager.” “You have no idea.” I go to my knees and crawl over Ellison. “I’ve imagined us like this no less than a million times. I’ve seen it happen in my head over and over.” Ellison brings my hand to her mouth to kiss my palm. “I’ve imagined us together too. I can’t tell you how many times.” My mouth connects with hers and she opens wide to invite my tongue inside to play. Silky. Slippery. Seductive. I like this game very much. A little taunting. A little tickling. A lot of teasing. This woman knows how a man likes to be kissed. I drag my mouth away from her lips and kiss that spot below her ear before moving down the side of her neck. My hands similarly mimic the downward motion beginning at her ribcage and moving lower on her sides, waist, and hips. She pushes her fingers into the top of my hair and arches her back when I move lower to suck her nipple into my mouth. A soft gasp/moan expels from her chest when my tongue licks the erect point. I know she’s going to squirm so I grasp her bum hard and hold her in place as I move lower to kiss the top of her pubic bone. “Doc, this teasing . . . it’s torture.” “Do you want my mouth on you?” She lifts her hips and squirms. “Yesss. So badly.” She jolts when my tongue darts out and licks the top of her slit. “Ohhh.” I tickle her clit with my tongue and then lick once. Twice. Three times. “I love the way you taste. And smell.” She rocks her hips in a back and forth motion against my mouth. Her body shudders and a moan is released when my tongue works her in a circular motion. “More?” “Please. Feels so good.” Pleasing Ellison. Hearing her moans. Licking her until she comes. I’m going to enjoy this.

The Hot One by Lauren Blakely

From the NYT Bestselling author of THE SEXY ONE, comes a sexy new standalone romance…

THE HOT ONE!

hotonecoverrevealfbbanner

Releasing March 14th, THE HOT ONE will bring readers more of the swoony romance and passion they’ve come to love from Lauren Blakely, as well as plenty of witty humor and clever banter. Check out this fantastic cover created by Helen Williams with photography by Wander Aguiar.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000026_00023]

At first glance, stripping naked at my ex-girlfriend’s place of work might not seem like the brightest way to win her back.

But trust me on this count – she always liked me best without any clothes on. And sometimes you’ve got to play to your strengths when you’re fighting an uphill battle. I’m prepared to fight for her…and to fight hard. I might have let her slip through my fingers the last time, but no way will that happen twice.

He's the one who got away…

The nerve of Tyler Nichols to reappear like that, stripping at my job, showing off his rock hard body that drove me wild far too many nights. That man with his knowing grin and mischievous eyes is nothing but a cocky, arrogant jerk to saunter back into my life. Except, what if he's not a jerk . . ? He's the one I've tried like hell to forget but just can't. Maybe I’m cursed to remember him. My money is on him being the same guy he always was, but what's the harm in giving him a week to prove he’s a new man? I won't fall for him again.

But how do you resist the hot one…

My stomach felt all funny looking at Abel and since my brain was soaked in alcohol none of my mental roadblocks went up. The man really was something else even being rude and cocky. My fingers itched to touch his beard and to trace his lips.

“How’s the arm?”

“Ten stitches.”

“Jesus Christ.” That quickly his demeanor changed to one of incredulity and, I’m pretty sure, disgust. “You’re drunk.”

“Tipsy.”

“What the fuck? You’re a doctor and you’re mixing pain meds and alcohol?”

I snorted, an unattractive sound yes, but it couldn’t be helped. “You’re an ass. You know that, right?”

Surprise, it was quick, but I definitely saw it rolling over his face. “And you’re an idiot. What kind of VMD are you?”

Even drunk, my blood boiled. Prick. “What makes you think I’m mixing drugs and alcohol?”

He glanced at my arm. “Ten stitches.”

“Not that it is any of your business, but I’m not on pain meds. Thank you so much for your concern though.”

It wasn’t surprise this time, but something else flashed in those unusual eyes before he said, “I’m just trying to figure you out.”

“You don’t need to do that, figure me out. Every time I’m near you I want to run away screaming.” Or jump you and kiss that damn smirk off your face. “I irritate you just as much, so focus your energies on the countless women in town who actually want your company.”

“See, now that just sounds like a challenge.”

“Seriously. Did you bang your head recently? You might be suffering from brain trauma.”

He had the oddest expression on his face and then that head dipped back and he roared with laughter. “You have a sense of humor too.”

“I wasn’t joking.”

This only made him laugh harder.

My phone buzzed. Rylee was out front. “I’ve got to go.”

“See you around, Doc.”

“Is that threat?”

“No, babe, a promise.”

“Fabulous.”

He was still laughing when the door closed behind me.
