Review of Finally Us by Harper Bentley

Synopsis: They wanted forever… but is forever really their destiny?

When misunderstandings and unsavory characters get in their way, Ellen and Jag call it quits after nine years of being together. Now they find themselves in places with which they’re unaccustomed: Ellen is trying to get used to the idea of dating another man, having never gone out with anyone other than Jag, while Jag is coping with an injury and the loss of baseball, a game he’s played for most of his life. Neither is sure how to handle their new situation, but they’re dealing.

When a surprise trade lands Jag right back in the middle of things and right back into Ellen’s life, new boyfriend and all, can he keep his cool and prove to her that what they once had is what's right? Does Ellen still carry a torch for her first love or has she already fallen for her new baseball player, making it too late for them to start again?

The fight is on as Jag goes head-to-head with Ellen’s new love interest as he tries proving to her that their love deserves another shot. Can he win her back or is their dream of a perfect forever gone for good?

This is the third book of the True Love Trilogy.

Due to language and sexual content, this book is not recommended for readers under age 17.

4.5 Stars!

Review: This final book in the True Love Trilogy is a few months after Jag and Ellen's break up. They are both still going through a lot of emotions, but anger and hurt seem to be the main ones. Ellen is still hurt that Jag would not see how much his past actions were hurting her - mainly through his unwillingness to fight for her with his agent and the previous situation that he put himself in with the press. Jag couldn't get over the fact that Ellen didn't trust him.

They are both trying to move forward at this point, however. Ellen is back home and working as a Physical Therapist with other pro-athlete's and Jag is going through rehabilitation, himself, from his injury at the end of the last season. He gets really amazing news, however, that he gets to move back home and play for "his" team. He knows, though, that this means that he will have to face Ellen and figure out, once and for all, if he wants to fight for her, again.

Ellen, on the other hand, meets another guy and agrees to go on a date with him. She reasons that she has never been with anyone other than Jag, and she has to do something to get out of her funk. No sooner does she do this, however, than he moves back home. These two are so hard to watch, at that point, as they basically just keep layering hurt and misunderstandings on top of each other to prevent them from working through anything.

Jag and Ellen are meant to be together, though. They are that couple that you can't help but to root for because they have put in so much work, and they both care for one another. Just as in the past, though, they have to guard against others that don't want their relationship to succeed. I really liked seeing Jag finally wake up. I think that, just like with any relationship, both of them had a point. Ellen should have trusted Jag, but it might have been easier for her to trust him if he had fought a little harder for her, at times. It just goes to show that communication can definitely go a long way.
