Tour Dates 28th April – 2nd May
Book: On My Knees
Author: Meredith Wild
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis: Haunted by the responsibility of caring for her troubled family, Maya Jacobs gave the only answer she could when Cameron asked her to marry him. Years later, entrenched in a soulless professional routine, she distracts herself from the lingering regret of her decision with a “work hard, play hard” lifestyle that guarantees no man will ever find his way into her heart again.

Cameron Bridge has spent the past five years married to the military, trying to escape the painful memory of losing Maya. After fighting his own war in the desert, he starts a new life in New York City, with his siblings, Olivia and Darren, by his side.

When fate brings Maya back to him in the heart of a city filled with its own hopes and shadows, can Cameron find the girl he once loved in the woman she’s become?

4.5 Stars!

Review: I was sent an ARC of this book for my honest review. We first meet Maya and Cameron when he visits her, while on leave from his military training, for her Spring Break in college. They spend several days with just the two of them, making love and memories to last them. They speak of the future and marriage, but then Cameron asks Maya to marry him and come back with him. You begin to see that Maya may not have had the best childhood and the idea of marriage frightens her. She is unable to say "yes" to Cameron at that time, and he is unable to be with her on any but his terms.

Five years later, Maya and Cameron cross paths again, and, this time, Cameron pushes a little harder to get to Maya. They have amazing chemistry, and you really do get invested into whether or not Maya will finally give herself a chance at love. Throw in some crazy people at work, Cameron's snooty family, and things get a little tense, at times. It really is a little heartbreaking to watch Maya struggle just to finally say "yes". There were a few things that just seemed unresolved for me. A lot of Maya's hang-ups come from her mom and some of her mom's actions, yet, there isn't much done with that. There is also another family member of Maya's that she and Cameron visit, but this was after she mentioned not having any family, so it felt a little like it came out of nowhere. Other than that, I really enjoyed reading about the way that Maya and Cameron really seem to complement each other and bring out the best in each other. They work much better as a "them" than either of them seem to do apart.
