Review: Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

Synopsis: Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…

That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

Review: No this isn't my normal read, but I needed something different and not so predictable.  Ok, well, most books are predictable, but this was a nice change of pace for me.

Sky is a seventeen year old girl who has been home-schooled and has no technology in her life.  I don't mean just computers and internet. I mean no cell phone or even home phone!  No tv either.  There is no internet, no Twitter or Facebook.  The poor girl thought LOL meant Lots Of Love. Sky has always been isolated with the exception of her best friend and neighbor Six.

Even though Sky has been home-schooled, she is able to sneak boys into her bedroom for make out sessions.  There are no feelings though, she is numb to it.  She does not cry, ever, or know the feeling of lust until she meets Holder.  Things then begin to change and there is a problem.  Nothing could prepare me though for the real problem.

Holder is just wonderful.  My heart just melted once I knew the meaning behind his tattoo.  When he finally kisses Sky......MY!  He wanted to make sure she wasn't numb like she had been and just wow.  He is just a passionate guy.  Sky thinks he might have about five different personalities but soon realizes, he just that passionate.  Sky likes to just blurt out what is on her mind but Holder, he analyzes the questions and gives it thought.

There are some dark subjects in the book but Colleen Hoover handled them well.
